Recommended firewire type for Phonic mixer
Hi, I am purchasing two Phonic mixers for work (recording audio from conferences with multiple microphones) and would like to know if the MkII's are stable with 1394a, or if I absolutely must have 1394b.

(disclaimer: wish I could afford two Mackies, but that isn't possible with my budget. thanks for understanding :) )

traps flat drum set for recording?
i was wondering if one of those would work good for recording... right now im using a dtxplorer with battery 3 and im very unhappy with the dtxplorer but battery 3 is good. im planning on selling the dtxplorer or trying to get a refund and using the money to buy a real drum set. i dont have much space and sound is an issue so i was wondering how much quieter are the traps flat drum sets than a normal drum set and will it sound good for recording? could i do enough tweaking to it after tracking to make it sound decent?

Alright guys....
What's a good 24 channel controller? Preferably, 24 mono and maybe 8 buses. Sounds good. Ha. Price not really an HUGE issue.

Anyone have experience with one or own a good one?

Oh. And running Nuendo will upgrade to a from of actual Cubase soon, I hope... So, no digidesign stuff. :P

"high tuning"
Martin makes a set of High Tuning acoustic strings. The 3rd thru 6th strings are tuned an octave high. I tried this once by using just the octave strings from a 12 string set, unaware that it's a common practice in the industry. I recently found out that the late, great Dan Fogelberg used this tuning alot. ("Oh, that's why my Martin doesn't sound like his") Anyway, just wondering who's familiar with it and what brands other than Martin, offer these High Tuning sets. Thanx in advance for input.

Quality Pre-Amp? Suggestions? $5-600 range.

I would like to purchase a nice pre-amp for when tracking instruments\vox. A two channel would be awesome but I would go with a one channel as I don't want to sacrifice quality.

I am looking to spend only around $500-600 and would love some personal opinions, hopefully from gear you have used before and not just read about.

I would like tube, but if someone can tell me another product that sounds as good\better then I will consider it.

I have the Rode K2 tube LDC which really helped out (compared to C1000S) but I think combining it with a nice pre it would work wonders.
