Drum Programs
I know this topics has been covered but I couldnt find what I was looking for. I have been using a very old version of Fruity Loops to do my drums up until now but I'm looking to upgrade to something a little better. My question is this, do any programs let you get a little loose with drum hits. ahhh I know thats not a very good explaination. I mean if I want to do a tom roll and have them a little off of the beat. There is a little bit of a shift in Fruity Loops but its not enough to make the drums feel natural. If anyone can make heads or tails of this post I would be greatful for you input. Thanks!

Best Condenser mic for me?
hey everybody,
only just a little while ago i stepped into the world of mics and bought a sennheiser e609. I use it to mic my guitar amp and acoustic guitar and am quite happy with my results so far but now i have the need for a condenser mic. Im going to be using it with vocals, double micing my guitar amp and for double micing or just micing my acoustic guitar. Since im new to the mic world does anyone have suggestions as to what a good condenser microphone would be to get for say oh 300 or less that would fit my needs? all help is appreciated.

Multitracking Mixer to a Mac question
Hey everybody,
i run my home set up off of my powerbook g4 which is the best one avaliable so it does quite well. I've slowly been moving up the bar recording wise and now i am to the point where i would like to start recording more than one track at a time. I know i would need a mixer with at least 4 tracks (i'm aiming for a 6 or 8 track) and that i need the software (which i already have, i continued to be amazed at how proffessional garage band can be for being free with my computer). I know how i can direct each track into seperate tracks in garageband as well. What im just curious about is how i'm supposed to get everything into my mixer and then get it into my computer via one cord. Is it possible to plug the mixer into the line in and still route each track on the mixer to seperate tracks? or would i need a mixer that plugs into the usb or firewire ports. Or even are there other ways of recording numerous tracks at once for my situation. PLEASE HELP! Thank You!

give me your opinion on my sound quality if youd like to as well, id appreciate it :

mackie 1202
Hi, new to forum.
Is there any difference between a mackie 1202 vlz pro and a mackie 1202 micro in terms of quality preamps, etc. I don't know much about home recording but i figure it's time i start. Right now it's just me and a tascam 4 track and a SM57.

Latency Issues
I'm using a Digitech Vx400 to do my recording (USB Audio Interface), and I also have a M-Audio Keystation 49e. I use the keystation in Native Instrument's Kontakt, and Absynth 3. The keyboard works well, but the latency is a little bit much. When im listening to the audio thru my onboard sound the latency is OK, but when the audio is getting piped out of the MIDI, the latency gets worse. Furthermore, there is no way to route the output from Kontakt or Absynth into audition using my Vx400, or my onboard sound.

Is the latency due primarily to the fact that the audio is coming back thru USB, or that USB is a bad idea for MIDI? Also, my Vx400 has all the right inputs/outputs that I need for recording, but the recording from Kontakt into Audition is impossible as far as I know right now. Are there any alternatives?

Best Sound Card for $500
Hi all!

I need a serious sound card for $500 or less. I like the E-Mu 1820 because it has balanced in/outs and a breakout box with a headphone amp.

What I'm really looking for is an ultra low latency card with MIDI, S/PDIF in, balanced in/out and rock solid software. Id like to be able to pipe audio from one app to another app(for recording), so good drivers is a must.

I like the idea of E-Mu's hardware accelerated DSP effects, because i use a lot of realtime effects, but I'm not sure if these would be crap.

Does anyone know of some rock solid soundcards that they would purchase again and again, and can you give a quick rundown as to why? I need to buy one soon.

Daphon Guitar Pedals??
Hey Guys

Has anybody ever used these pedals (from the E20 series) - I believe they are stupidly cheap, one (the distortion) uses the same chip as the Tubescreamer and they cost next to nowt??

They do a big line of em, as well as the E10 series (plastic I believe -the E20 is metal casing) as well as effects, they also do wah, volume and some other peds.

Anybody any experience/info on these guitar/bass pedals???

Cheers guys

Dilemma: USB vs. PCI Sound Interface?

I've just started getting into recording. I just have a digital piano and an M-Audio USB UNO Sport right now. I've been experiencing latency when trying to record in realtime using VST instruments.

I've been looking into either the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 or the Tascam US-122, since both seem to be well-reviewed and popular. I've having a hard time trying to decide between the internal vs. the external interface however (and the $100 vs. $160 price tag). Is the mobility of the external USB interface worth it? How's the latency difference? Also, will I need to replace my computer's soundcard after getting either one of these?

I will be only recording one instrument at a time, at most two, but will definitely be using VST instruments mostly. I'm not exactly sure what the S/PDIF thing is for either.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
