Hi there!!

I have i question!

I recorded a band last week. But i had this problem I couldn't solve and i still can't, so i need you help.
We were recording saperatly. First drums, then bas etc. For drumer we needed a metronom. So here is the problem. How do I send metronome with CUBASE SX3 to the drumer headphones with other instrumenst as monitoring. Do i have to use mixing console, because my manotiros were routed directly to my external 8in/8out AD/DA converter on output 1 and 2. When i tried to monitor the drums there was a huge lateny.

If anybody knows how to deal with this kind of problem, you know, mertonome, drums and monitoring, i'll be wery happy because i realy need this!!

Thanx guys,

UFO

Doen't Cubase have a metronome built into it that you could send out, I would suspect there probably is something like that in there...I'd check the manual and find out...

ufo, there are a few Cubase users here. Unfortunately I stopped using it about 4 years ago. So I wont be much help there. Be patient and someone will pop int hopefully with the solution.

Yep, me as well. The dongle now sits prominantly on a shelf to remind of why I dont use it anymore.

On the transport panel (F2?) there is a little button called "Click" (As in click track). Hit that and iy'll light up blue. Then hit the button below that, but above the BPM for the metronome. Then hit F3 and make sure the volume of 'audition' is up.

The drummer shouldn't really need any drums in his H/P, so don't bother. If he whines, tell him to get over it. Just connect your output from your soundcard to your H/P amp/Output and you'll be rockin'.

To fix latency go to your soundacrd control panel and take the latency down. 128ms should do. If your sound card does not have a control panel, go to "Device Setup" In cubase, then Audio devices and have a wee play with the latency settings.

It just ain't my preference. It's a good app, sounds great, works great and all that, but when I quite using it I just found it clunky and hard to use, the usability sucked...I have heard it's gotten better, but haven't used it in 3-4 years probably...maybe longer

Sonar 5 PE and Project 5 version 2. I have always used Cakewalk products from the beggining of their software. I have installed and used Cubase, Logic and others but found them rather cumbersome and hard to navigate. Sonar allows me to customize almost every aspect of the work environment on my desktop.

As well my main gripe with Seinberg software has and is the dang security crap. First it was the Paralell port dongle, and they never worked for crap. Now its those stinking USB things that work, then dont work, then work again. But I still find their interface awkward and clumsy. But as dB stated, the application is top notch I wont say it isnt. It is just not intuative enough for the mainstream users.

Now I wont say Cakewalk doesnt have alot of stuff hidden under the hood, because it does. It is the fact that they show you exactly how to get at it and allow you to make it easier to get at if you are a power user like myself and many others.
