Firepod

I've been using a Presonus Firepod for almost two years now. Over the years I only have had one problem with inputs not working which was classified as a defective product and replaced. Now my second one has been working great until now. It records fine, but when I play back anything in cubase sl 3 it starts for a second or two then stops playing any sound while the cursor keeps moving. At first I blamed my monitors but the same thing happened with the headphones out of the firepod. After that I played it through my laptops sound card with the headphones out of it and it worked fine, so I know it is the firepod. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
