Does anyone have tips on how to set up an appropriate monitoring chain? Just simple EQ/Reverb would be nice. I have too much latency to monitor via my soundcard (Delta 1010) with plug-ins, so I'm talking about somehow splitting the signal and sending the dry signal into the PC and then wetting down the split before it reaches headphones.
Let's hear several ways of doing this.

Jan 25, 2006 10:14 pm If your mixer doesn't have built in effects (i'm guessing it doesn't) then you can put an effects device in the aux of the mixer. I've put a zoom 1010 effects processor on the aux buss so I could hear reverb in the monitor, leaving the signal to be recorded dry.
If your mixer has direct outs, then use that to send signal to your computer. If not, then use the channel insert for that channel to tap signal out of the mixer (only plug in to the first click). If you don't have an insert, then I'm not sure.
Hopefully your mixer will have direct out, or channel inserts. Fill out your profile (see mine) so we can have a good idea of what you're working with.

Jan 25, 2006 10:17 pm Oh yeah, then have the outputs of the 1010lt going into the last pair of stereo inputs on the mixer. This way you can hear your previously recorded tracks in your cans, plus hear the incoming signal from channel 1 (or 2, 3, etc).
Don't put aux on the stereo pair, as it'll already have it from the first channel.
