M-Audio Delta 1010LT Input levelling problems...

im currently using this system to record drums:

Sm57 (snare) and PG52 (Kick) into Delta 1010LT's 2 XLR inputs (INs 1 + 2) and 2 samson C02's going into a Berhinger mixer (for phnatom power and preamp), panned left and right and then that goes into 2 more of the Deltas inputs (Phono ins 3+4). I then level the C02's on the mixer and just record - all fine. But the 2 dynamic mics, i intended to level in the 1010Lt's control panel, however i cannot stop them going into the red. According to the Delta's manual u can ajust the input and output levels, but even when i make the input level the lowest possiblr, and the output level the highest, it is still too loud.

the behringer mixer is an 8 track (4 mono and 4 stereo channels), so was thinking i could plug them into the mixer, level them on there and send them out, however this mixer has no aux sends, so that is no good.

I need a temporary fix to this problem, as in a few months i will be getting the behringer UB2442fx-pro, and i will be able to then do all the mics on one desk, but till then i need some way of controlling the levels better.

is there something i am mixing that will get the level down? is it best to get myself a cheaper 4 track mixer With aux sends until i get the biggen?
all comments welcome

Are you using the XLR inputs for input 1 and 2?

On my 44 I dont have any trouble turning down the input signal. However I do not have XLR type inputs nor is there a pre amp section on the 44. So I may not be getting a good comparison.

Have you got the latest drivers installed, as well are they installed properly? You mihgt try re-installing the card after downloading the most current drivers and install them.
