I recently purchase a UM-1EX USB MIDI Interface. I installed the drivers fine and it says it's all "Ready To Use". However...what do I do now? I want to record music from a digital piano to the computer. Can anyone help ie what software do I use? Can I use Audacity?

Jan 21, 2006 07:59 pm Audacity is an audio only recording software. To use midi to record the midi notes you will need a sequancing type of software app. such as N-Track or one of the offerings like Sonar or one of its little brothers. There is also lite versions of Cubase as well.
These applications allow you to sequance/record your midi data/notes and have them playback the synths sounds via the midi cable.
How much money do you wish to spend on the software? Also what type of music are you going to be recording?

They have a limited 3 track free version for trying it out. As well the smaller version is only $69.00 for the downloadable version. I have used it and I know several people here have as well. It is a nice straight little application.
