I was hanging out with TheDorks (a local band) when they sugested I start my own production company. I don't have a job at the moment, so I figured it couldn't hurt to try. So here it is. Arctic Diner Productions.

Cool, dude, ummmm, you kind of promoting services that are against mine, however, a bit of food for thought, if you are gonna use Flash for the main navigation, you should really have another type of menu somewhere in case the visitor doesn't have Flash on their PC or they are behind a firewall or have network security that doesn't allow flash...

also, you can add your link to the community directory...

Huh?

Good idea about the flash thing. I'll update that later tonight.

All I was saying is that, in case you haven't looked at the main part of this site (The actual dB Masters business part) I do web design and development, maintenence, audio production as well...so you are promoting your services on a website that offers those services itself...

not a biggy, just pointing it out...

Ohhhhhh I see. My bad. But you and I have different target clients. I'm only working with the kids. All U-21 bands with no money. Besides, I'm just central PA. I don't think you have to worry about me taking any buisness away from ya.

that's cool, I wasn't worried. However, I have worked with a band or two in PA as well as many other areas of North and Central America...

None-the-less, I wish you good luck with your biz, I hope you do well...

Jebus! In the 10 hours it's been up, I've exceded my daily 1GB bandwidth allowance... that's crazy! I'm gonna need more bandwidth!

how the hell did you use up one gig of bandwidth, this site gets well over 100,000 a month and I haven't clear a half-gig yet in any one month...and actually Noize, my clients are pretty much starting to chew up my space and bandwidth...

Anyway, Fuzzball, that just isn't possible to use 1GB in a 10 hours unless you are Yahoo! Not to harsh your buzz or anything, but that is an insane amount of bandwidth for 10 hours...unless your whole site is streaming video or something...which it isn't...that I can see anyway.

Ahhhh, I just tried to listen to your new track, it looks like your production co and your streaming media are on the same server. The streaming media could have chewed up that bandwidth pretty easily.

If you really want your business to look professional you really should get on a server that doesn't have banners. I can seel you some banner free space, and, depending on what you put out there I could sell it pretty cheap. If you keep streaming media off of it and just have it your business I could do it quite cheap...IF you have a domain name (which I can also get for you)...to have you biz look good a full domain and banner free site is pretty crucial. You will notice that the only ads on the business part of my site (or even in this community) are ONLY ads that Noize or I arrange to display...

Just a thought...email me if you are interested, hosting here with a domain means you could be something like ArcticDiner.com (which IS available) and your email could be something like [email protected], which looks much more professional than a generic web address like www.this.com/that/this.that ...know what I mean?

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm actually working on that. Angelfire has an add free service for under $5 a month, and I could get the domain name to work with that as well... so I dunno. This is actually my only job at the moment, so until it starts turning a profit, I'm stuck where I am.

ya, I hear ya...just out of curiousity, what do they give you for $5 a month?

No adds. That's it. They shut me down again... perhaps it's time to switch servers... hint hint.

so you still have the same bandwidth and 20 MB of space...well, I can give you more than that space for $5 a month, and a little more bandwidth, but not a lot more...

Also, I can only host people who have a domain name, I can't (or, well, don't) host peeps without a domain, it is a pain in the butt to do...

For $5 I can do 25 MB of space, 1GB (maybe a little more) of traffic and 20 domain email accounts (accessable from a webmail tool or POP3 clients like Outlook) a MySQL database, PHP, SSI and CGI support and great support (for the servers, not building a website :-)

The 20MB isn't the problem though. I really don't even need that. It's the bandwidth. Perhaps I should look into my own server... but once again the whole money thing comes into it... how much would setting up my own server cost anyway?

A LOT more than $5 bucks a month, you need a decent size machine, a static IP (which costs a lot, and can be worked around sometimes) and an ISP that won't care if you are running a server, and they can tell....for $10 a month I can up the bandwidth to 1.5, maybe a bit more...

Actually dude, for $10 a month I can get you up to 3GB transfer rate...if that helps at all...plus the MySQL database and PHP/CGI support which you may not dig now, but if you ever get into it it is super cool, this entire community is only 10 files running off of a MySQL database. databases are powerful tools!

I actually just found out I have more bandwidth at my colocated datacenter than I thought!

Noize, you may have to move your site over here...we gotta talk, holy crap dude! I found out I have more server power than ever! WooHoo!

Might as well start em young. You know as well as I do that the internet is and will be the place for the future. They will learn to be geek's and not even know they are.

They can learn to put their own stuff up there for their friend's and relative's to see. And maybe, just maybe they will learn to be a little bit responsilbe from it. hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha
hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha, what am I thinking , responsible, those two.
