For starters, Welcome to HRC

Secondly, YahooChat isn't exactly the first place I'd go for audio recording advice...or advice on anything really.

Magix is cheap stuff. That said, however, for somebody on a tight budget, it IS better than having nothing at all. A couple members here use it and get the job done with it.

However, in order to leave any detailed information, you need to ask detailed questions. Saying "you want to do your own thing" isn't really much to go on.

Do you play instruments? If so what?
What type of music?
How many instruments recorded live at any one time?
Any MIDI sequencing needed?
What gear do you have already (i.e. fill out your profile)?

A good place for your to start would be at our FAQ's www.homerecordingconnection.com/faq.php

to be perfectly honest, i used to use that same program when i first started out, its great for beginners, but i dont know about it being a "professional" program in any sense of the word...

I'd think to add, that most apps offer demos of their stuff. It'd probably be useful to take a few days (or weeks) and see what's out there, and try some out.

Give out the info dB suggested, and we can help more, to be sure. There's so many variables, that it's impossible to give useful advice without details.

Welcome to HRC, as well.
