Hey there just bought the tascam Digital FX/CD recorder, and was wondering if anyone has one, or knows if there are drum patterns on the hard drive already. The pocketstudio my friend has has alot, and also it had several sample beats and music schemes on it. Any help? or is there a way to upload them onto my machine. Sorry, true novice here.

Is it this beast? www.digitalproaudio.com/tascam-dp01-fxd.html

If so, no, it doesn't look like it has anything built in. Looks to me like you'd have to record the beats in from an external source like a CD player.

Hey jonzard, welcome to HRC.

It doesnt look like you can upload them as is possible on a couple of these unit's. You will have to record them live as a track. It will only allow exporting of single track's not importing via the USB port.

As for recording them in, well ya its as simple as hooking up the source that is playing them into your inputs and arming the tracks to record.

Did you get a manual with this thing? It will describe how to record in there.

As for beat's and such, exactly what are you looking for, simple loop's, full drum track's, other instruments??

PowerFX, is a great place to start. dB and I as well as other's have been using their sample's and such for a long time. Very good stuff. Look for them in our Recording Directory or in a banner on the right here.
