Hi Guys

OK, so ave been missing the good ole HRC of late though Ive been hittin around more lately...good to be back and good to see the ship growing all the time....always nice!

So, down to the demo.

OK, this is my first attempt to record my own band. I used the VF160 for ALL tracking, done most all the MICIN of the drums (bar some tracks which were done by the rehearsal studio (recorded, not mixed) and all guitars, vox etc - thru the VF160 also.

I dumped it ALL on Cubase (see my other thread :-) and mixed it there.

Its NOT finished and some vocals are getting ripped out so dont worry about the few ropey vocals...these are being re-done this Sunday. I Only dropped them in to let you get a feel for the song...vocal mixing wasnt really done here to a great extent .. but, the rest seems no bad for now.

So, all comments, critiques, whatever - MOST WELCOME....

Here's the links:

www.breverwebdesign.com/HRC/throwyourhand.mp3
www.breverwebdesign.com/HRC/saidanddone.mp3
www.breverwebdesign.com/HRC/letitgo.mp3

Remember...some vox are rough/raw/not the best but the rest SHOULD be OK performance wise. There is still more mixing needed here and I've deliberately NOT uploaded one song (which I hope will be a killer when done) as the vocals are totally off key but when done, I'll post that as well....

Regards to the songs themselves, I obviously wrote Let It Go myself before the band, the other 3 were written between myself and the singer so, a bit more collabin going on these days with ole Coco.

Enjoy (I Hope) and let me know yer thoughts...

Cheers guys and gals.

Coco.

Scared me for a second there with that intro to All around this Town. Then bam, here comes the rocker.

I'll be given em a bit better listen later tonight and give ya some feedback after that.

But throw your hand is another rocker, liked the feel of that one.

Said and Done, another rocker. Straight ahead again, no messin around.

I'm really torn here on Let it Go. I liked the old version alot. I like the new found bottom end on the guitars with this one though. And I gotta be honest here, but I will wait to here the redo on the vox. I liked your vox on the original better. But maybe the singer isnt used to the tune yet.

I'll shut up till later.

Cheers Noize for the listen - appreciated!!!

Aye - these vocals were the end product of 30 mins!!! So, they are NOT the best for sure!

Basically, we set up (we had 3 hours with drums already done) to do the guitars, bass and vocals...which, when take off my "engineering" time, moving mics etc made it tight.

We'll be redoing em tho this Sunday. Agreed, Let It Go sounds rough...I'd go as far to say they all have an element of roughness too...some bits are OK, but nothing is complete and perfect which is a bummer...

Alas, it was an SM58 and the singer tried to sing too much, as if it were a condenser. But your comments, echo my thoughts so thats all cool and good and to be honest, Im glad ya said that. The irony is, I wouldnt class myself as a "singer"...am a guitarist who sings! :-) !! hehehe.

I will be adding the backing vox, with the bass player and along with some new lead vox, it should be a whole heap better.

But aye, again, MANY thanks for the listen and I appreciate that buddy...good man.

Cheers

Ya, I guess honestly the original version with you singing just has the kinda throaty coco vocal style to it, and it just seems to fit the tune well.

I will hold my tongue though untill I hear the redone version of the other singers vox.

Cheers again...I'll be posting the new stuff soon (when I get the new vox on and mixed)

Coco,

This stuff rocks! Or, as the "Genre" column in my iTunes indicates...it "F***ing Rockkkkks!!!!!"

You definately got a great drum sound from just three microphones. And the guitar work is phenomenal!! Especially on "All Around This Town". You're right, vocals need to be re-done in spots, but I wouldn't say they were bad!

Your band is tight...the drummer and bass man got it going on. And this is the best guitar work I have ever heard from you!

Are you guys gonna record "Without You (The Words)"? I always did love that song.

Keep on f***ing rockkkkking!!

Jim

Hey Jim

Cheers for the listen my man...I appreciate that and your comments as ever.

And thanks for your kind words...I sure as hell am loving playing my geetar these days. It helps having the slim taper neck on the LP (the Epi was the fat neck) so that helps my style an awful lot. That, and the good sustain I get...

Yeah, we're getting tigher tho not quite as tight as Id like but aye, its gettin there.

I dont think we will do The Words to be honest, we have another 5 songs in the set (plus one I recorded I just aint posted yet) so no room for it the now but maybe, some time in the future..it'd be rocked up tho so it'd probs loose something...

Cheers for yer words tho my friend...MUCH appreciated. As for the MP3 taggin...I had a few too many when encoding and being a bit rattled, added those daft comments :-O !! hehe.

BLEAK ya mad man...good to hear from you too. Cheers for the listen and the comments and to be honest, I never liked yer stuff either :-P !! hehehe...just kidding man...

Keane - ah, sodd him, the mighty Hibees will still stuff em all!

Guys, we need to sort a collab again soon...am kinda missing oor collabs on HRC. I just got me an MP3 player and chucked all the stuff I/WE done over the last 2 years on..still lovin it all!

Cheers guys....can rely on ye all for good inputs.

All the best

Coco.

Hmm, bad move perhaps but, hey man, its all good rock n roll :-) !!

Ach well, its only the first cut of the demo...when Sony or EMI (AYE RIGHT!!) take it on, I'll tone it down :-P !!

NOT LIKELY!

Cheers bud....all good fun.
