desperate help needed with pop-ups...

wow...this is absurb already...i leave my computer for 5 minutes and come back to more than 32 windows on my computer...this is getting me really upset, i cant get rid of them, its all the time now....i have AdAware, but it doesnt seem to fix the problem at all...

can anyone help???

Have you updated the AdAware database? Also try Spybot Search and Destroy...and CWShredder.exe if you can find it, CWS (CoolWebSearch) are the evilest of evil...

Check at www.spywareinfo.com after you get the Spybot log...they always know...

There is a button right on the first screen after opening to update it.

Is that shtinking Windows Messenger active? XP & 2K have a "service" called Messenger (someone else will have to give you the "technical" name) that allows two users on a network to use popups for "communication". Several Windows updates have closed that "hole", but maybe something has re-opened yours? Got kids doing IM'ing? Do you have a firewall active? Ad-Aware, if updated, can prevent most IE-type pop-ups, but not the Messenger "network" variety...
