[MP3 clip] Terminus - new and unfinished song

Hey guys. Up until now I think I've only posted here when something's been wrong with the ol setup, but tonight (well, this morning...it's 04:35) I thought I'd share a little of what I've been working on.

The song is called Terminus, and the most finished one is at the top, although it still has no start, and no end. It's getting there though. It's a little long (10 mins) and will get longer, but will be split up into several shorter tracks eventually. It's based on images that I turned into a story that I turned into, well, this song! It's an unusual way of working for me but it kinda worked out. It's like putting music to a film...only there's no film.

In either case, hopefully enjoy, and any comments or crits on mix/production/etc. are more than welcome. I can't reccomend DFHS highly enough btw. It's really what gives this track a more polished edge than alot of my other stuff!!

Wow, very nice Paul! Excellent mix and musicianship! Love the different sounds and textures, nice lead playing, always wished I could play lead better. :) Great sounding drums, DFHS is indeed great for drum sounds. I'm very impressed with the mix as well, sounds very polished to me, Great work! Big thumbs up here. :)

Gotta agree with OD here. The DFHS sound great in the mix. You did an excelant job. The guitar work is great by the way. Listened to a couple of others, you seem to have it pretty well covered. The mirror was very well put together as well. Nice work on the guitar sound on that, the rythm guitar reminded me a bit of an older Yes tune which I cant remember the name of.

This sounds like Alexisonfire, a great band that is quickly gaining fame around the world that started just minutes from my house (www.theonlybandever.com). They have some awesome instrumental tracks just like this. Amazing production and a very nice tune!

Hey guys! Thanks alot for listening, and glad it's gone down well :) Now if only I could finish it!

Chris - yup, the drums are MIDI. Where possible I play them in realtime (with quantize on of course). I'll only drop to step time, or put the notes in by mouse where it's physically impossible lol But you really get a better.."groove" when you play it in by hand. Ideally though I'd love a Roland TD20K *drools* but unless I win the lottery or obtain a sponsorship...that just isn't happening.

Ah well, a guy can dream!
