Hi Everyone,
I have Cubase VST and am running Windows XP with a SB Audigy card. I have managed to get my latency down to around 10ms. When I play a VST using the Midi Keyboard it is perfect, no latency. When I start to record there is a 2 second delay between hitting the note and then hearing it. The resulting recording is as though there is no latency, but as I am recording It seems that the latency is huge. Is it something to do with the way I am monitoring? Has anyone got any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Darny

Oct 17, 2005 03:09 pm If you're monitoring thru Cubase, the latency ends up being twice as long. Add in that the Audigy is a latency pig, and you've got a big chunk of time... but 2 seconds is quite a bit long. Your signal path is most likely from the keyboard to the app strip as midi, out of the midi strip to the VSTi, back to an audio strip for recording as audio, back out to the monitors for your ears to hear... Are you adding in any effects via a send? That would add another trip...
Are you using the ASIO4All driver? KXproject? or just the SB WDM driver? If you're using the Windows multi-media driver, they're the slowest of the bunch...

Oct 18, 2005 03:53 am Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I am using ASIO4All, and like I said the latency is fine when playing the VSTi, its only when I record I havnt added any effects. What are my other options of monitoring, if this is the problem?
Thanks
Darny
