Oct 10, 2005 06:30 pm yeah, I saw that a few days ago, wild, eh?
Oct 10, 2005 06:40 pm yeah. and fascinating, and eerie. just finding that in the swamps like that. a record of a strange battle that ended in complete disaster. if you found that you'd be momentarily shocked.

The scary thing is, I don't believe Pythons are native to that area, which means they are let go by people that had them as pets and don't want them any more...yikes.

Oct 11, 2005 11:04 am I think the scariest thing about all this is how much it toys with the food chain and local ecosystem to introduce these species. Granted, Europeans did that in the Americas hundreds of years ago and it's not a barren wasteland - but pretty dramatic changes did occur.
Anybody else reminded of the frog Bart brought to Australia in that one Simpsons ep?
Oct 11, 2005 11:07 am yep, I do remember that...and yes, I agree with the issue it brings up. I know every now and then you'll hear somebody catching a Pirahna or some South American Cichlid in a Minnesota lake...kinda weird, but same thing, somebody got tired of it, it got to big and they dumped 'er in a lake.
Oct 11, 2005 05:22 pm Oh god, I will never swim in a lake again

Oct 11, 2005 07:58 pm Isn't the next big thing in Florida supposed to be the African Tigerfish? :)
Consitering my African Butterfly Fish killed a Betta (aka the siamese fighting fish) I once had... these things might be a bit mean...
