A Simple Speakers and Clipping question...

Hi,
right, well this is a very simple question that I`m almost embarressed to ask! But I`ve never been briefed on this so stick with me!...

I have a hi-fi seperates system...(amp, cd deck, tape deck, turntable and speakers)...
I`ve started to notice some clipping when I turn up the bass control on the amp, (this didnt happen with my old speakers, just these new ones I got last week...but they are way better speakers!) Anyway, could it be anything to do with the fact that my amp is 30 watts per channel and my speakers can go up to 75 watts? Basically what I`m asking is...do you get more headroom before the clipping if you`re amp is more powerful, or at least closer to the power of the speakers?!
Thanks in advance.
Alex

Well to start, you want to make sure you are not driving say 8ohm speaker loads with and amp that is looking to drive a 4ohm load. Or vice versa.

And yes, and underpowered amp needs to work alot harder to get the volumes to the speaker, so indeed it will clip much easier if the impedance load of the speakers is not what the amp is looking for.
