I just wrote and recorded a new song about Hurricane Katrina. It's called "Weather the Storm", and it's in the Music section of my profile.

[political rant] I was thinking about the people who knew the storm was coming, but couldn't get out...or had no place to go even if they could. Also, I was thinking about the government's lack of response to the problem[/political rant]

It's a rough demo recorded with GarageBand. I was after a Bruce Springsteen meets Neil Young sound. I'd appreciate any feedback regarding the lyrics and melody and overall effectiveness of the song. (I plan on re-recording the whole thing with my band. This "demo" will elp me teach them the song...)

I think ya definitely nailed the Springsteen meets Young sound, particularly Young. The lyrics work well to me and I like the melody alot. I was watching a movie that Young made the other night with His music and this could have been in it. Really a good song Jim can't wait to hear you do it with the band, though you've done a great job of it by yourself, you hit the target square on!

I definitely think you have the Neil Young vocals going (quite precisely, I don't know if you are copying his diction or not but it sounds really natural).

I would maybe try pulling down the guitars a bit and let the guitars and vocals drive this song but that's just my personal opinion.

Nice tune :)

good song...love the structure of the tune...nice vibe working here...mix is solid and everything is pretty clear...maybe the acoustic could be a tad louder...but thats pretty subjective...it works fine the way it is.

nice intelligent lyrics too...nice work.

Agree with OD here as well. Ya nailed the sound well. I like the tune as well. Good lyrics, fit the mood of th tune as well.

In some parts you honestly could be mistaken for Bruce indeed. My youngest son heard it and thought that's who it was.

Anyway, very good tune in my book.
