Sep 08, 2005 05:50 pm If you do any multi-band compression or exciter in Ozone then that's probably the best order to use. I use HB on the initial mix, then Ozone w/Maximizing usually, but I also use the order your're using as well. Both ways seem to work well IMO.

Sep 08, 2005 11:58 pm Wow, Good question. No easy answer on my part. At present (I am always looking to improve) I use HarBal after mix, before pre-master. At the same time, I am starting to give my pre-masters a quick review in HarBal post pre-master. I have had a couple of tunes that I was able to do positive tweeks at that point. I too have been using Ozone. One tune had problems out of the mix with both the ultra low and high end. Between mix and pre-master I took care of that and added a little sparkel to the vocals with the exciter as well as a touch of room verb to the mix. After pre-master HarBal pointed out the possibility of a boost in the 600hz area that was not there post mix. It realy added punch to the song. Did little to effect the maximizing so the piece was still ready for the mastering stage.
