Drum noise problem!

Ah so here's the deal. We have an extra room in the basement that I'm moving my studio into. The thing is, the 'tv room' where everyone watches tv is 2 rooms over. 3/4 of the basement is finished, from left to right it's... garage-my new studio room (finished walls, cement floor with carpet)-unfinished tiled room-wall-3 ft carpeted hallway which leads into finished carpeted tv room. I was going to try to build a drum isolation booth or something so it's less noisy to people in the tv room when i'm playing. Do those drum shields help this at all? if not, what can i do??

Do a bit of reading here and you'll see that soundproofing can get pretty expensive and laborious.

First, figure out what sound levels will be acceptible outside of the room, and then maybe you can find some solutions that fit your budget.

There are lots of things on that website suggested for reducing the amount of sound that leaks from the room, but I'm not sure if you can get a drum set to be quiet 2 rooms away. Especially quiet enough to be able to hear a TV over it.
