Trying to understand FireWire setup...

Hey guys. I have been researching a lot the past week or so about setting up a home studio. I have pretty much decided on buying a Presonus FIREBOX. I am in the process of building a PC. So... here's my question: If I run the FIREBOX into the FireWire card in my PC, will I need to buy a better soundcard? Or should I? Does the FIREBOX replace my need to buy a soundcard? I am asking because of playback quality. I understand that for the actual recording process, the FIREBOX replaces a soundcard, but what about playback? I am going to end up listening to my recorded tracks using the cheesy inboard sound on my Mobo or does the FIREBOX take care of my PC's sound output?
Thanks for your help. These forums have REALLY helped me out so far. Much appreciated.

The Firebox ( service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear for peoples reference ) is a fully capable playback device as well as recording. Unless you get into gaming heavily you won't need any other sound device...sometime, not even then.
