Well without knowing whether it is for recording, live performance or both, I'd have to say the Mackie partly on name recognition/reputation. The Alto, however, has a 9 band EQ which is better than the Mackie 5 band, they both have digital effects onboard, but the Alto has 4 completely independent subgroups, which is cool.

Tough call really. Depends which features are most important to you.

thanks for the reply.

.....As im fairly new to this mixer lark .ie. what to look out for in one.. any advice would be great...We've only gone straight into P.A heads previously.

Its use would be for live performances .They both state ultra low noise etc , which i'd guess is very important. As for everything else , as you say , they are both pretty similar.

Im looking to mic 1 X guitar amp
D/I bass amp
3 X vocals
3 or 4 drum mics

.....are they both up to the job ?
