Circuit City Extended Warranty Scam/Picket

My family purchased a Circuit City Extended Warranty.
I have been trying to get them to fix/replace the computer we purchased for over a month now. They have been condescending, nasty and arrogant and to this day are still giving us the run-around.
We paid $300 for this warranty and they are cheating us out of our money.
I am planning a picket(you know, walking around the store with signs) around the Burbank Circuit City store this Saturday morning (7/30/05).
If you have been screwed by CC as well and would like to participate, please e-mail me ASAP at [email protected]
Let's fight back!

heh I bought a montherboard and processor combo from CompUSA couple weeks ago and it wouldn't post in BIOS... I take it in and they wanted $100 to do a diagnostic... I laughed and said I'm still in the 30 day return period so why not just do that and get a refund?

Instead of doing the logical thing of putting the processor in a different board to see if the processor is bad (which would have taken maybe 10 minutes) They started doing the return paperwork... So after getting my money back I went next door to a different computer store...

Personally I NEVER buy those extended warrenties as they are very easy to void... it used to be that you couldn't open the case, etc. Plus they manufacturer usually has a warrently too.

...reminds me of my first computer at Best Buy with the "can't open case" clause... it was really freak'n loud... I take it in... two weeks later I get it back and the CD tray was pryed open with a screwdriver...and it's still freak'n loud. So I open it and the CDROM is loosely held in with one screw... :/ added another screw and it was fine...

in all fairness, I can see why computer places have the "don't open the case" clauses...I mean, think about it...

Never had any problems with CC here either. I would guess it is probably just that one certain store. But that said, they do indeed really push the extened warranty thing on everything. I have however known at least one person who did get what he paid for. He bought an extened waranty on a sub for his car. He blew it out in about 3 weeks, his own fault as well. And indeed, they replaced it on the spot with a brand new one in the box. No questions asked. They did state emphatically that the warrnety did cover it no matter what happened. It was a kicker sub, and I know they do stand behind their stuff pretty good. Especially considering the price they charge for their higher end stuff.

I think just like at Getfiddle Center, they have a quota they are issued from corporate of how many contracts the 'will' sell. GetF'd would hold little competitions for hats and crap as carrots for the sales staff. They third partied out the contracts and I think the provider was ok. But trying to get a return through the red tape was pure hell for the customer. The sales staff where responsible for testing the stuff to see if it was bad. What a comedy! Most of the time they had no more stock on the item and had to issue a refund check. Now there was a little chore that was close to an act of God.

I've never had any problem with CC either. The one time I had a problem, they loaned me another TV while mine was being repaired, they had it fixed in a few days and it was fine after that. They've never pressured me for the extended warranty either.
