Jun 29, 2005 04:58 pm nah....i'm just gonna set it ontop of of my q-10.
donno about the sound yet, i'm sittin' here at work staring at it in the box...but it's supposed to be 6db's more gain and a lower noize floor than the older one i used on my vocals for Destroy By Design...PLUS it's got a HPF and i can turn OFF the tube, i couldn't do that on the older model....one thing i dont' like is the inputs are on the back...the older one had the ins on the front and it was real handy. i'm gonna do some tests with it this week and see how it compairs to the q-10's pres.
Jun 29, 2005 05:17 pm Do you think theres anyway of bypasing the pres on the Q10. I dont know about you, but i find the Q10 almost degrades the sound of a signal sometimes, but rarely.
Its funny when you take the Q10 out of the chain and fire the mic/pre amp straight through the speakers.
Still sounds good though :-)
Lemme know how you get on. Thw whole Solid state/tube thing sounds like a wicked idea.
Jun 29, 2005 05:25 pm hmmm yeah i was just planing on settin' the q-10 to line and havin' the trim all the way down (or unity if it'll let me) have you used the guitar pre's on the q-10??? i've used them a few times for keys....they seem to have a boost around 2k....and the low end is a bit fatter, but the extreme highs 5k+ seem real brittle, it's a bit hard to A/B them cuz you gotta set the trim just right on both to get a good comparison.
next up on my list is an FMR RNC!
Jun 29, 2005 05:33 pm Do an A/B and let me know if you hear a difference with the BlueTube. I've heard that the older model didn't have the greatest noise floor, but I don't know about the new one.
The RNC is one thing that WILL really make a difference!

Wheres unity on the aardvark? lol it starts in at 15.
Does using a line input bypass the pre's?
