anyone get this combo to work? i've gotten this to work with red hat 7.2, but am now using 9. I can't get windows to input a username/password that samba is happy with.
I can go over the specifics if anyone is inclined to wade through it with me.

Jun 14, 2005 07:38 pm Whoops looks like I forgot to hit submit at lunch time... anywho
It might be samba is set for plain text passwords which was and may still be the default, with win2k/XP you need to set it for encrypted password.

Jun 15, 2005 12:29 am heh doesn't sound as bad as my upcomming issue... getting slackware 10.1 to r/w an hfs+ partition for switching harddrives containing large video files (otherwise hfs would work) with Mac OSX. I know it's possible but requires a kernal patch and I've never successfully recompiled a kernal :/ ...and I don't have 10 hours to screw with it right now :)
Oddly I can't even figure out how to get OSX to do a standard hfs partition... only offers hfs+, hfs+journaling, and ufs...

Jun 16, 2005 08:20 am hoo, don't envy you. i recompiled a kernal 10 years ago, getting a non-standard mouse to work in slackware 2, or something like that. there was a text menu system that walked you through it. I have no idea now. =)
I don't know didly bout mac stuff.
Thanks Dan, I'll give that a try today. I'm making due with FTPing stuff over to the web server, but samba sure would speed things up.

Jun 30, 2005 02:50 pm just in case anyone's paying attention, or cares, it's working now, reloaded rh9, (again), and it worked this time. nutty stuff.
in case anyone ever tries this, it's a nice install, handles everything pretty smoothly (except my own ignorance). remember to check php-mysql extension support in the web server setup of the install.
