I got a very stupid question. My buddy has Wavelab 5 which he was going to give me at a fairly cheap price. Finally, after a very long time from not hearing from him, I got it from him. So, I started just messing with it this morning and it looks cool but I'm confused. What do you guys mainly use Wavelab for? I see meters to view what you have and an "Audio Correction" feature that I used to correct all the 10 errors I had but I don't know if it made a difference or not. So, what do you guys here do with it mainly? Sorry for the stupid question!

Jun 11, 2005 01:15 pm I will spare you the unauthorized version speech :-)
I use it to fade in and out at the beginnings and ends of songs, noise reduction if necessaary, applying mastering effects such as compression and reverb perhaps, setting amounts of silence between tracks, compiling the CD composition and burning it to CD.
Sometimes I export individual tracks out of Sonar into WaveLab for on-the-spot editing and importing it back into Sonar...
WaveLab has been priceless...

Jun 13, 2005 08:12 am Sweet! Thanks guys, I'm going to work with it some more when I have the time.
So comparing this to Har-bal. Har-bal makes it easier you say?
Jun 13, 2005 08:16 am the two apps are for totally different things.
HarBal is for one single purpose, harmonic balancing, and NOTHING does it better.

Jun 13, 2005 09:15 am Gotcha! I figured that but wasn't 100% sure. Let me get my pastor on the roll and see if they will buy me Har-Bal!
Jun 13, 2005 09:16 am HarBal has no wave editing or anything like that, that is where WaveLab is king...among other areas.

Jun 13, 2005 10:24 am Oh okay, so basically Har-bal is great for seeing the audio spectrum and seeing where you are spiking at and such.
Jun 13, 2005 10:42 am ...and most importantly, it's great for correcting what you see...don't forget that, it does it like no other app with it's volume compensation it won't do what most other EQ's wil, which is get louder and softer with EQ adjustments, therefore, your perception of the sound is being formed based on the sound and not being clouded by the volume of the sound...which makes a HUGE difference.
