EQ and mixing questions.

I have two quick questions. First does anyone know of a computer program that you can monitor the eq of your songs while it plays?...I know like winamp and stuff has a small eq meter but I was looking for something more like a 15 band. My recordings through Sonar are way too heavy on the low end after I mix them down. Also does anyone know of a decent pair of headphones that I could use for mixing? I know 99% of the recording population prefers monitors but I've had my best sounding mixings come from projects where I used headphones for the final mix, plus I can't afford a decent pair of monitors. Thanks.

ya mean like a frequency analyzer? Do some Googling, you'll find plenty.

dB has that har-bal link down on the right...that app is great for mixing EQ stage. i know i'd have major holes in my mixes that i wouldn't necessarily be able to hear in my monitor setup if i didn't use that.

Yes, I bought Har-Bal about a year ago and it changed my world. It is probably my most invaluable tool. Definitely worth the money.

Somethignto use while recording, there's BuzMaxi3_130 and VoxengoSPANVST13. Just do a search for them in the VST Plugin section of kvraudio.com. Those give you a spectral/freq analysis while it plays.
