Delta 1010 mic pre-amp options

Hey there,

I'm getting up to speed on using my new Delta 1010. I realize now that I need a preamp and have been looking at my options. Basically, I like the M-Audio Audio Buddy but I don't like the fact that I have to buy 4 of these things to get 8 inputs. I have heard that if I can get a mixing board with either inserts or direct pre-amp outs, that would do well too. What is a good inexpensive mixing board option that I can use with the Delta 1010?

Ryan,
Judging by your e-mail addy your a drummer right?
Another option to the NADY pre-amp (which is a great option), is to do what I did- get a Mixer. I bought an Alesis 1622 on ebay for 140 bucks and have 8 mic pre-amps plus. I have the LT card, but if you are doing drums this may be a good option for you.
Then again my mixer is in the kitchen!

or you can get a mixer to cover the pre-amp delema , the behriger 2442 is a decent mixer and it had direct outs on the 8 of it's channels . and I think you can pick one up for under 300$. If you just want mic pre's you can check out the ultra gain (something) with 8 mic pres for just over 100$ USD at musicians friend.

Yep, I'm a drummer! I'm trying to record my drums and combine it with some midi stuff (which I still have yet to learn) so I can better convey my muscical ideas. Not being a drummer, I have a hard time talking shop with the "real" musicians in the band. I'm also looking for a band, but that's a different subject. Thanks for the advice, guys.

What program are you using?
If you want shoot me an e-mail and we can rap about stuff. I am learning a lot everyday. So much of this stuff is trial and error and i would be happy to help in any way I can.

PS are you doing prog stuff? I am working on a prog CD right now.

mike,

I am learning to use Adobe audition 1.5. I picked up a book called "Using Audition" and it's excellent. I need more equipment in order to get everything working. I bought the Delta 1010 not knowing at all that I would need the preamps. It's cool. Midi is going to be crazy to learn too.

I'm really into Prog, but am not doing that right now. What is the name of your band?
