(Jumping to Conclusions)

Hi, if you've got this far then I guess that you are keen have a listen to a track I'm working on (by following the above link).

It's probably not most of your people's style but the fact that you had a listen means a lot to me.

I'd be interested to hear your comments and if you'd like to hear more samples of my tracks please let me know and I will try and upload them to purevolume. Likewise, if you want me to listen to some of your tracks just send me a message.

Thanks

Matt

lol i really wasn't going for sympathy but thanks for listening. By the way, that is only the second verse of that track. It's sounds a bit washed out on that purevolume site and I haven't quite finished mixing it properly but it's getting there.

I'm currently writing the lyrics for that track and then adding it to the album I'm working on called 'Well Known Sayings' which contains tracks named after, well, well known sayings. 'Don't Look Down', 'Nothing to It' and 'Jumping to Conclusions' just to name a few.

Nice arrangement on that track. Sounds like you made some nice choices for instruments as well. Although as you said, it is difficult to tell when listening on Purevolume as they seem to have squashed it down a bit.

It sounds like something I would definately listen to indeed. Look forward to hearng more from you.

Hey thanks again for your comments and for listening. Is there a better place to host music as you miss out on a lot of the melodies within the tune on purevolume because of the bad quality?

I only posted this a few hours ago and alerady a couple of people have listened and commented. This place is great!

Some people are using myspace.com with good results. Otherwise there is also nowhereradio.com as well.

I personally like nowhereradio or soundclick as they allow lo-bandwidth streaming so I can hear the song without getting stutter step pauses or having to wait half an hour to download the track. These two sites are prettymuch all I listen to these days when people ask for review/critique, as it's all I have time for.

Curious to listen...but purevolume is down right now...bastards. I've been getting upset with purevolume lately...all my songs have shitty quality on my pv pages...and not everyone can download the songs because the lack of whatever software you need in order to download the songs.

anywho, here's sort of a trick for hosting. Get a xanga site, then get an angelfire site. Upload your mp3s on angelfire's webshell (you get up to 20 MG of space for FREE!) Once you've uploaded an mp3, copy the url from the angelfire site and paste onto your xanga site's "look & feel" area in the music url text bar. The song will play as background music on your blog in high quality! You can only have one song up at a time, but it works!

If you want to attempt this and still have any questions, let me know, I'll help you out!

Peace!

Hey gemi I'm having the same troubles. I can't access pure volume from home right now either, I have to do it at work. Goodness knows why it works there and not here at home, but other people seem to be having luck. I will look into the options that you people have told me and re-post a link once I have it sorted. Thank you again for all your comments. They are reassuring.

Most of the samples I use in my music are original and after finishing the bare bones of a track with default samples I spend hours trying different samples until I get the right combination. I wouldnt like to think how many hours I have spent composing this track. I pretty much wrote most of it in my head in about november last year and then sampled the entire thing, modifying bits and pieces as I went. That is the recipe for most of my tracks.

Finally got to listen to it...WOW!

I really like your style! I'm into that type of music. I could definitely see your music on a progressive house type record! That's sort of what I like to compose/listen to, too...well, other than film music.

Oh yeah, I like the whole "well Known Sayings" project you got going. Clever stuff! Wish I would've thought of it. This summer I'll also be working on my own electronic music project. Name of my album is "Inertia"...it's going to be a bizarre mix of progressive house with some epic film music type stuff...Really, I'm just trying to develop my own style. But it's been fun so far. Check out my music site for some clips www.purevolume.com/jeremyfrancis

Anyways, You do a good mix for sure! I also work with FL software (version 3). I can't stand people who use looping software to compose long, dry, unlistenable tracks. They are lazy and have no talent. But then there are cool people like you and me who try to put that software to serious work!

Keep it up man! I can't wait to hear more from you!

Thanks heaps gemi.

I've always liked the type of songs that you hear on the radio that get your attention, the type that make your ears stand up and listen. Those songs seem to be as rare as hens teeth these days. Occasionally you'll hear a song that starts good, but then they ruin it with a really bad chorus or lyrics that say the same ol thing. Is it just me or is the world really becoming overcrowded with mainstream pop, punk rock and average hip hop that all seems sounds the same. With hip hop it's either 'look at me I'm wealthy and have fancy cars with big chrome wheels' or 'look at the girls dance for me, shake the booty etc' or both of the above. When are they going to bring out a song that wasn't named after a girl dancing and making her backside wobble? And then the punkrockpop teeny boppers go 'im so sad my girlfriend broke up with me and shes with another guy now'. Don't even get me started on all the other manufacted pop rubbish that is made for teenage girls. I am totally against mainstream which is why I like this site so much. It gives artists who really like writing and playing music a chance to share their stuff.

To be honest I kinda feel like a cop-out since I'm more of a bedroom composer wheras other people on this site have got real talent and are really good at what they do.

I'm glad I got all that off my chest. I think that this would be a great place for people to post their own opinions on mainstream music. It's just an idea...

Gemi I had a listen to your stuff and I must say, it is VERY well produced I can already imagine seeing your name in the credits of a movie beside 'soundtrack composer'. Keep up the good work! I will post another track in the next couple of days once I get some time.

Thanks for reading this long boring post

All I have to say about mainstream these days is...AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
