HELP! Getting my Sonar Project on to CD??

I've just finished my first song using Sonar 2.2 and I wish to get this on to CD. The question is do I need to save this to the CD as an MP3 file or is there another method of saving it to CD. Although I've never used the Sonar MP3 converter it seems to have expired?? Is it necessary to renew this or is there another source I can download that will do the same thing? Are there any benefits to be gained from upgrading from Sonar 2.2 to a newer version - is it 3 or 4 nowadays? Thanks for your patience.

You can renew it if you like. I would save (export) it as a .wav file and then you can burn them to CD using whatever burning software you have.

Sonar release version 4 a few months back.

However, you can "export" your project from the file menu as a few different file types, I would suggest as a wav file for best fidelity.

Many thanks, vdalehubbard & dB Masters!

I'll disappear now and try to save it as a .wav file - will that play on any CD player?

So would you recommend upgrading to Sonar 4?

Thanks again

it will play on any CD player as long as you burn it to CD using a "redbook format" burning app...which is most any...

yeah go to File > Export Audio

burn to cd with your regular burning software...make sure you're bouncing the audio to 16 bit and 44.1 sample rate.

as for the upgrade, getting out of 2.x and into 3 or 4 is WAY cool, but if you can do whatcha want in 2, then it's all good in da hood.

peace

hmmm i donno if there's enough Sonar users here in my (1 hour radius) area, maybe in Nashville though.....i'm in a pretty small town (we just got done celebrating "Mule Day") but i was thinkin' of teaching a "home recording" class....we do bass, guitar, and drum lessons already...i bet i can get the basics covered in a few weeks for say $50 per student or something....thing is, i don't have a place to do it yet! i'm workin' on that though.

now you got me thinkin.....

Vikki, if you upgraded from Cakewalk Pro Audio 8 that had the free mp3 converter on it. You will just need to go in and run the authorization again. You should be able to find the mp3 authorization set up in the 2.2 set up, or in a dro down menu somewhere. Not sure exactly where, its been awhile.
