You know, maybe you shouldn't compose anymore music...if it's not rock n roll, it's crap...

Woah, easy Mary...sometimes posts get lost in the shuffle. I know how I habitually check my music posts about every 5 seconds to see if anybody's responded, so this must've been a pretty agonizing 5 days.

I don't really have much to say about the songs. I don't listen to a lot of instrumental stuff, especially orchestral. This is pretty unique for around these parts.

The production on them is definitely very good. The pieces all remind me of movie soundtrack music...it brings up visions of serene landscapes and love stories. There's a nice complexity to the themes and the interaction between instruments. Good job, I wish I had more to say but this is outside my area.

It's also sometimes kinda tough to get people to listen to your stuff if they don't know you...often regular member that contribute a lot to the community and people have grown to "know" them, they are more likely to respond quicker, or at all...the critique has come to be more of a community feature as time has gone by and people have gotten closer as a community.

know what mean?

thanks for the comments guys...sorry for the "satrical" posts...i figured it would bring some attention to you guys, and it seems to have worked a bit!

just so you know, the replies i made to myself were not to ***** anyone out or to display any form of dislike to this site...like i said, just thought it might bring some attention.

on a more serious note, thanks for all the kind words. wyd, about synths: i use a yamaha djx, and tweak a lot of its voices with the cutoff and resonance controls...of course, i use fruity loops 3 to construct the drum patterns.

i'll try to become more involved in the forums so you all get a better idea of me personally. i'm obviously a sort of wise-cracker...but just don't take any of my sarcastic comments to heart.

peace out, all!

Okay, I hate putting music up and getting no response. I put a song up about a month ago and got nothing, but I sort of got used to it.

I think peeps here don't want to comment because themselves are wondering how theirs sound to others. So, they don't want to judge anybody else because they don't have the convidence themselves. Okay...Oprah moment for the day.

So, I will make it a point to listen to everybody's music that post on the forum here. That is, when someone puts a message about "hey, listen to my tune", I'll check it out. Try to start a trend. Give me a sec and I'll listen to yours....

I love the strings/pads you use. How in the world do you get the instruments to sound so real? Please tell me what you used, I'm actually working on getting that sound for little violen solos and such. Your arragement is sweet. All it lacks is the Celtic woman singing with a very pure voice. I love "The Long Way Home", very good. I honestly can't say anything against these tunes. I was surprised, didn't think they would sound like that. I play the keyboard also and love to do that kind of stuff. Check out my song titled "Weird" near the bottom of the page, it's really weird to be honest.

"weird" was pretty sweet. you've got good skills when it comes to mixing loops with each other! i really liked it. made me think of john powell music (especially his score for the bourne identity).

the secret to making synths sound real is to give each instrument/voice as much "personality" as possible. what i do to do this is tweak the voices using the resonance and cutoff controls. i also can control the attack from slow to hard. when working with strings/chorus/wind instruments, i usually slow the attack. for the oboe, i mess with the modulator very delicately to give it a vibrato effect while i perform its part. if you want a fuller sound for your violin, dual it with a pan flute, if your keyboard has dualing capabilities...

i have been asked to score a short student film by the end of this month, so i'll keep everyone updated on any new tunes that i have coming...

if you want to hear my latest piece, listen through the background music at mine and my girlfriend's website at www.xanga.com/bethjeremy

I use one keyboard: Yamaha DJX. For the new song, voices used were:

electric piano, ooh voice/ahh choir, harp, slow violin/flute, hard violin/flute, slow strings/slow trem strings, reverse cymbal with long release, timpani, vibes/marimba.
