I was wondering how i go about reversing the phase on my drum mic when i am recording drums?
I use an ST Audio sound card and am running Cubase VST.
Cheers.

Mar 20, 2005 10:21 pm Cubase should have a phase reverse button right on the channel strip or track strip, however they refer to it. I know Sonar has it right on the strip in the main view for each track of audio. As well as in the mixer view.

Mar 22, 2005 02:43 pm I don't know Cubase software that well, but you could try to see if it has a phase reversal button in the software, or another trick that engineers use is that some mics have a phase polarity reverse button right on the mic depending on the type of mic that you are using.
I am a Pro Tools user myself, and I know you can do it with a plugin in PT. :) Goodluck

free phase reversal plugin on this site, I can't link directly to it...why you ask, well, I'll tell ya, cuz all sucky web developers use frames...
Mar 22, 2005 06:43 pm i got to thinkin' about something...with drums wouldn't it be better to have the mics that are looking down on the drums, to have the polarity flipped? if the mic is looking down on the drum, the first transient (the most important) is gonna be made of the stick pushing the head away from the mic (-)....which yealds physical speaker movement inward...woulldn't you get more impact if the speaker was movin' outward (+)?
just a thought
