i'm using XP Home (came stock with my dell)
would i gain alot by upgrading to Pro?

as far as I can tell... not unless you need more security features for your computer.

Some more networking features. Seems more stable to me also.

haha I think stability is all in the luck of the draw. I havent had any problems thus far with my xp home, but we have XP on my work computer... it runs unbelievably slow and crashes just about twice a day. WYD can vouch for that one too, I have been talking to him when its happened before. XP pro will also randomly log me out of certain programs, or log me out of the system all together from time to time.

Isn't dual-processors a Pro-only thing as well? I don't recall for sure. In work situations it can also be attributed to a lot of network resources and client apps that the company has on any workstation.

hmmm so basicaly since i don't network (or plan to) and prolly won't upgrade the motherboard for a good while, it's prolly not worth the $$?

Not worth the money.

All computer will crash from time to time, no matter what operation system if the files get corrupted. That one you are talking about ZX6R1033 needs formatting.
