I live about 20 min from Davis CA , where next month Nine Inch Nails are playing a sold out show. This is one of the dates that's kicking off the tour (the over seas leg) and I'm over here in sand land reading about shows that I could be at . I'm a big nails fan and the last time trent was on tour was in 2001 , i make it a point to make it to the shows because you never know when the next one will be . I just hope I catch the US leg when it rolls around in the fall or winter. I had to vent sorry.

Feb 27, 2005 01:24 am i agree, but i THINK i heard a sample track from the new album. after thinking monophonic meant something other than what it apparently does, i was dismayed to hear single instrument lines, in a weak song. i can only hope that song was not genuine.
i heard the album would be monophonic. i.e. no chords. and that dave grohl would be on drums. perhaps i was lied to?
Feb 27, 2005 02:46 am dave was mentioned to be on drums. and Trent did say monophonic but he was being goofy in a post on nin.com , he replied saying"don't take everything i say too literal." I don't trust most stuff that is let out unofficially becuase 90% the time it's wrong and sounds like crap anyway. There were a lot of people who thought "still" was crap because it was over produced and it had a very raw feal. I dug it for what it was .

that said, i am ashamed to admit that i have a bit of schadenfreude for reznor. the man is just too good. makes me wanna quit right now.

now if i could only get better at 7th chords. it is my feeling that one reason his instrumentals are soooo good is that he knows just how and when to use 7th chords.

xtc: I can agree with you to an extent, but I also have some of the same feeling that Trent has when it comes to my music. I don't want someone to put out stuff of mine that isn't finished. that would go double if I had a large following that was waiting on my next CD to come out, just having to deal with expectations of people and then someone put out something of yours that (you many think) sounds like crap (i.e. unfinished) and you can’t reverse it. I also believe sometimes leaked tracks can create more of anticipation and that the leaked tracks kinda help get the public in a frenzy to buy the new CD when it comes out. The good and bad of both points IMO

First off, I like NIN. I remember moshing in a place called "The Mission" in Edinburgh here, to Heid Like A Hole, where folk used to (literaly) run up the walls, bang their heads OFF the wall, etc ... truely MENTAL!! Anyway, a kick *** band for sure.
Secondly, I would like to say yer tag line "Stupidity Should Be Painful" has never had a truer word said...In fact, unless ye have already, I would like to use that for a song title!!! Its bloody cool!
RE: Pre-release etc - couldnae agree more. I post stuff up here "half" done for advice. I'd NEVER do it otherwise. Man, its like INVIIING abuse and trouble (unless yer in a place like this). People should WAIT til the work is done...its just the way it should be.
Anyways, take it easy man and take care over there in the auld desert...I have some buds from the Black Watch (scotland) whae were stuck over there for a wee while...madness by all accounts with kids shooting kids, etc...anyways - take it easy.

for this album and the last one the wait has been 5 years, i think fans(including me)at this point are just desparate to hear something new from NIN, even if its some lousy version. he should be proud that fans like us want to hear his music so badly!!!!
