Hey guys, I've never recorded a guitar before
now my friend is coming over and he only has this big selfmade amp, which we can't carry over here..

he does has some analog pedals

When I record my guitar ( total crap, stratocaster ) it does record it ( without a DI box or something ) and it does record it quite well or so I'm to believe, not a soft signal or a lot of noise just a clean guitar I run in through my mixer and Compressor and it records just fine

NOW my question is...
Is it possible to go GUITAR--> ANALOG DISTORTION PEDAL ---> MIXER ---> COMPRESSOR ---> LINE IN

and would it capture the distortion of the pedal?
I can't try it myself cuz I don't have a pedal, and he's coming over on saturday so that's the first time we're able to try it... but I wanna get it as good as possible by informing with you guys:D
BTW I don't have the xtra cash to buy a simple DI box from behringer right now , otherwise I would have ;) but I just payed my vacation so Next month I will... but I need the sound now...

anyway I'm talking too much...

IS it possible to get the distortion without a DI?

argh, well, it will record, I will say that, you will get distortion, I will also say that. You will not be pleased with the sound quality tho, I can promise you that, you really need some sort of preamp or amp sim...
