"Hats Off to Beer" Collaboration

Just in time for St. Patrick's Day...

I'm looking to do a loud and racous version of my song "Hats Off to Beer", and I need a little help! I need some people to drink a few beers (if you're of age and of that persuasion) and then record themselves singing the choruses of the song. (There are four all together.) Sing melody, harmony, off-key, on-key, sober or straight. It doesn't matter. I'm looking for that authentic Irish pub sound (not that I have ever been to an authentic Irish pub!)

Also, if anyone can whack the banjo or play the fiddle or mandolin that would be great too. Finally, some hand percussion would really help out a lot as well. (Any closet bodhran players out there?)

You can download the scratch track along with the words and chords here:

www.thecutaways.us/hats.htm

Thanks in advance to anybody who wants to chime in. I need files by March 11th in order to have the song mixed down for posting by St. Patrick's Day.

Exactly...you record the .wav (I'd even take an .mp3) and I'll line it up and put it in the mix. Either e-mail it to me or send me a link where I can download it.

Have fun!!

I'm in for sure. If I can make it work, I'll try and throw some irish tin whistle on there too.

I've never been to an Irish pub in Ireland, but been to one in Peru, and a bunch here in SF. Got kicked out of a bunch in Belgium too (it was the english blokes I was hanging out with. They kept singing derogatory drinking songs about the Irish).

Well I’m used to posting stupid things when I’m drunk so it's about time I used my powers for good instead.

Count me in for an inebriated chorus line.

I'll muck around with some violin on the keyboard and see if I can get something that doesn’t sound too canned.

mmmm, time for a beer!

I'm about to go record my parts right now! Won't be drinking though. I have a strict rule of not drinking by myself, and well, don't really feel comfortable recording with other people around. But a raucous chorus you will be getting from me.

Jim

I am such a slouch and a slacker and guilty I feel!!

Anyway, I have done some stuff for this. But, its to "sober" if ye know what I mean. To rigid..I want it to fit the song so in teh truest sense, I will be drinkin a few beers tomorrow on account of it being Friday etc.

I've printed the authorisation from the teacher for the wife saying "I Must drink beer and sing some more" i.e. this thread so up the loft I go to record my best (almost but not quite) drunk vocal!!

Also, I have been messing with Fire again. I couldnt match yer solo so I am trying something new. I've jsut had a lot of guff to get done of late and I feel pretty crap at takin so long!

Anyways, hell OR Highwater aint stoppin me gettng back up ma studio and getting that take...oh yessss...and drinkin beer! Just hope I dont have too many and forget why I am up the loft...might just fall right back down thru the hatch :-) !! hehehehe.

Cheers bud

Coco.

yehaw, I just mailed you 5 takes of the chorus. Two are "normal" and 3 are me changing my voices and taking on different personalities (to give more of that full tavern feel). Hope you can use them.

Last call for "Hats Off to Beer" input! I'm going to be mixing it down early next week, so if you want to do something over the weekend that would be great!
