Jan 24, 2005 12:30 pm sorry, thats an HRC Pro feature.
Jan 24, 2005 12:47 pm ahhhh man i wanna upgrade, but i have no way to, no card or paypal account at all, hell i dont even have a checking account...the price ya pay for beein' low profile.....
Jan 24, 2005 12:48 pm wow, don't see too many people without that stuff these days. If I am caught without anything, it's usually cash, I live outta plastic and checks, but am never in debt...except for that pesky mortgage payment.
Jan 24, 2005 01:14 pm yeah that's kinda how i got started, i maxed out a few credit cards back when i was 18 or so and didn't pay 'em of for about 4 years and ended up payin' almost doubble in the end. so i made a concious decision never to own a credit card again, then i got into some issues with my bank (see the pattern here!) and decided i didn't like the way they did business either. really i'm just horrible with personal finance, but i only make about $40 bucks a week cash (family business) so i don't need to deal with those people.
peace

Jan 24, 2005 01:20 pm Sounds to me more like the bank doesn't like how you do business :-)
I charge everything (almost) and then pay it off at the end of every month. Then, I get the bonus kickbacks from the card, but never fall in to their trap of high interest. So I come out ahead doing it that way. Plus, now most of my spending (gear, software, computer parts, whatever) is now thru my business, I HAVE to use a check just for the audit trail purposes.
When I was younger I did more reckless spending, but never got myself in trouble, I had a very good freind that got himself WAY in debt, and I learned from HIS mistakes, that sucked for him, and I never wanted it.
It's sad, but too many people today don't live within their means, everybody has to have everything right now, the ol' "keep up with the Jones'" mentality. My wife and I made a conscience effort to NOT live like that. If we can't afford something, we don't get it. End of story.
Personally, I think it will be interesting when people in my age group start approaching retirement age and we then see who actually can retire and who can't. That is when you see who really did the right things as opposed to having the right things :-)
Jan 24, 2005 01:31 pm yeah i totally feel ya, my dad was about $400,000 in debt (including house) and filed bankruptcy last year, now he's got his own business (seperate line of credit) and he's walkin' right down that road again...i've also got a friend (24) who's also filed...it's sad really, i've found the best things in life are free. i have no qualms with living on little or no money, and in a wierd way i kinda prefer it.
i don't like money, and money dosn't like me, and that's ok.
peace

Bankruptcy pisses me off. People who file for it piss me off. Granted, sometimes people get a bum deal and honestly need it, but in the US filing is almost rewarding people for screwing up, forgiving many debts and most recently, as I understand it, it's now illegal for discriminate against people that have bankruptcy if you are a lending institution.
Guess who pays off all the bills for the people that have them forgiven? Us law-abiding tax paying citizens.
pisses me off.

Yeah, life was easier when I had no money.
Jan 24, 2005 01:48 pm yeah, my dad didn't learn a damn thing
