i idolized carson as a kid. i stayed up every night to see him and letterman, and got 5 hours of sleep per night sophomore year through senior year. i fell asleep in 8th and 9th period every day...asleep but somehow awake...eyes closed, head down, listening to jump to attention if caught. then, after school, i'd crash for 2 hours.

he was just that good. no one today comes even close.

zsa zsa gabor (cradling kitty cat in lap): "would you like to pet my pussy?"

carson: "i'd love to, if you'd move that damn cat."

lol...so quick witted.

Sad news indeed. Carson was an American icon. A class act. No talk show on TV today can even come CLOSE to The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

on thte topic of late night tv, there's some recent good news too, maybe. this craig ferguson guy who took over for craig kilborn seems actually pretty funny, and his scottish accent is refreshing. you know this guy, coco?

that's the guy from the Drew Carey show I'm pretty sure. He was the Drew's evil manager boss. Very deadpan funny.

awesome! i can tell im gonna be a fan. he has something new. some kinda new late night spirit. and whats more he seems really into it. he confessed on letterman the other night that the first time he hosted, he realized he should be doing this instead of acting. he said he'd seen the movie 'babe,' which featured a dog who gave an 'amazing, subtle performance.' he realized then that even a dog could do his job. but he'd never seen one host a late night talk show.

that's tidbit is hilarious.

I'm still a big fan of Conan, but I haven't been up late enough to watch him in some time.
