i was at my favorite wattering hole last night and we were rockin' the karaoke...i got to thinkin' a compressor would really really really help that industry. these people would sound tons better, and therefore have a better karaoke experiance. i wish someone would start installin' some kinda static compressor that has no settings or anything just a default, always active compressor in line. anyone seen such a machine? if not i'm gonna pedal compressors to all the karaoke community! after all, i am in retail.

just a thought

Don't most karaoke machines have effects on them? I usually hear reverb on the voices. I wonder if most people just don't know how to explore the effects options on their machines? I wonder if compression is actually available on some machines? Maybe under even another name or something, like dbx's "overeasy".

Well, I think most of the rigs that I have seen are based ona fairly straight up PA system. The Karaoke machine hooks into it for audio and the video system for that part. So I am thinking a compressor should be part of a decent system. Unless the bar is using some type of cheaper home karaoke system, and even those have some form of processor on them.
