Monitor / amp connection problem!

Hi everyone,

i've just registered so be gentle! the reason for my registration is that i've just bought a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 8.1 Passive monitors and have found that they come with neutrik speakon connections on the back of them instead of normaal stereo connections. This means that they are useless to me unless i can find a way of connecting them to my ariston stereo amlifier (ie special cables). Are all passive studio monitors like this? any help will be most appreciated,

Cheers

cheers for the link. though, my amp only has the normal connectors where you plase the speaker cable into the whole and tighten the screw as opposed to phono connections. therefore, can i connect normal speaker cable to these adaptors you've suggested or do i need something else?

thomas, try this page instead. www.audiogear.com/Audio-Adapters-Banana-Plugs.html
You can just get the banana plug for the amp side of things and the speakon for the speaker side of things. Then just purchas, or use the speaker cable you have and make them up that way.

The banana plug should go in were you tighten the speaker wire down, just make sure it is a plug ready and not the tiny little ones.

And ya, pity Wharfdale couldnt just be like everyone else and just suplly it with the normal connections. Speakon is generally used in live applications were vibration can shake out a plug. Nearfield moniters should never reach those volumes.
