Stupid question I am sure but here goes...
I am on a pretty tight budget for the time being. I have roughly $100 to spend. for the money, what would give me a better drum recording, a set (5) Nady DMK5 Mics, or a single Sure SM57?

Jan 14, 2005 12:18 pm it is a Sure, but it was purchased at radio shack about 18 years ago, so Im not sure exactly what it is.
Jan 14, 2005 12:25 pm ok hmmmm i was gonna say go for the Nady's, but i'm not sure how they sound/perform, so based on that i'd go for a 57 errrr damn, you need two matching mics for overhead first. i guess the Nady's would be better for ya in your situation then, i tracked the drums for Lights with two 57's overhead and some crappy vocal mic in the kick and it sounded ok....as an engineer, your job is to get the best outta what you have. so yeah that's my final answer, although in the long run, gettin' a 57 now will be better. haha sorry for flip-floppin' on ya like this, i voted for Kerry.

Jan 14, 2005 12:52 pm LMAO.
I am going to get a few SM57s down the road, but this is a 'for now' type thing.
oh on a side note, Dan, if you read this... The cymbal I was worried abotu drowning everything out.. doesnt.
Jan 14, 2005 12:55 pm well, i donno how badly you need this drum track right now, but it's way better to buy 1 good peace of gear once, then to buy crappy stuff first then "upgrade" it later.
