I am looking for a place where I can upload short clips of MP3s. There are a ton of sites out there where you can register and upload your songs, but nothing I have done thus far is worthy of recognition such as that yet. I just want a place where I can upload and send links to various people who are interested in hearing what I have done up to this point.

Join HRC Pro.

Or, register at Yahoo and use the Yahoo Briefcase.

*Please note: If you are a member of the free Yahoo! Briefcase service, public access to your uploaded files will no longer be available. However, you will still be able to share your files with people with Yahoo! IDs and via email.

any other ideas Dan?

I will eventually, but even when I do, I dont want little 200KB of meaningless MP3 Files cluttering useful space... hence the need for FREE hosting. ;-) When I join HCR Pro, I want to have something to contribute... unlike right now.

Then go to GeoCities, Tripod or one of those other free places. Do a search on "Free Hosting".

Who is your internet provider? Most providers set aside a little bit of space for each user so that they can have a website. I use road runner, and I get 5Mb of space. I use that to host a single song sometimes. If you're just posting little fragments, then you might have room for a few on your own webspace from your provider.

Wow, that dana music, at 231445 page views since June 2000, at least your likelyhood of having "too much traffic" on the site isn't gonna happen. people won't just stumble across your files...

Surprising it's that low, kind of a cool little site.

Or...buy some webspace..for around £30 you can have approx 300mb per year with a .com ... 5gb traffic and hsot what ye want plus yer ain domain.

Sweet...

Still, there is the free otpions too. They often sting ya tho with upload limits and limits on what ye can host i.e. mp3 or at least, well encoded mp3's i.e. above 48kbps!!

Good luck to ye.

Coco

P.S. Still join HRC Pro...many other benefits tae be had as well as the MP3 hostin.

Watch out, ZX6R1033! I had a similar need a while ago (maybe 6mos). I grabbed some free space with angelfire.com just for mp3s and it ended up being my first toyings with building a site.

Now, I have built a site which I can say I'm rather proud of through the very same host your viewing this site on. Although I had a bit of help in the beginning which I'm very appreciative of(dB, coco)

Thanks man. Yeah it's been sort of an obsession. I don't think a day goes by that I don't update something. Tackling CSS was my last big thing. Got rid of most of the tables.

I know that feeling pretty well. I still don't have enough faith in CSS to completely abondon tables tho. I know how, I have a couple times, but eh, on sites I really want moximum support for (like HRC), tables still form the basic template.

It's good on ya, keep up the good work.

Yeah dB, I imagine tables would be more practical with having to incorporate all that php scripting yet. I can't imagine how mind boggling it must be to program something that writes out the page based on certain conditions and having everything function just perfect. About the best I can do now is get it to show 'Hello World' looping forever and ever :) I dunno, I just bought a book on it and I'm planning on getting one for javascript too. I guess I'll see where it all takes me.

Noize, big difference those logos make huh? I met up with a friend who has photoshop. I tell you what, that's an awesome program, seems like it does endless things images.

yahoo briefcase is great if you have a couple specific people who you want to share with. I use it fairly often.

coolo read about 5 posts down... yahoo briefcase is no longer "sharable".

Mike.. I had a website up and going for a year for my car racing team. It took me a total of about 72 hours to build and was unbelievably boring.

Coco... I have every intention of joining HRC Pro, but as I stated before, I want to have something to contribute when I join.

In the meantime, I will use danamusic, as that has virtually no traffic. If there is any interest in hearing 15 second guitar clips that will eventually find their way into my songs... let me know. I would love to share them and get some feedback BEFORE I spend all of my time on recording the full songs and what not.

hmmm, I think there is a miscommunication here. Yahoo briefcase works if you have specific! people you want to share with. You just have to get their yahoo id and set them up so they can view/download it. What you can't do is upload to the briefcase and then have anyone who is interested come check it out on their own. But, if you found danamusic and it works for you, then it's all kind of irrelevant anyways.

haha yahoo seems like such a pain in the butt anyway. I need to find something. Danamusic is slow, as the admin reviews all uploads before posting them, and I think hes dead or in jail or something. *sigh*
