Jan 01, 2005 08:02 pm Well, more ram is always better. Both you selected are PC-3200 so they are both rated for the same buss speed. The 512 of course is a bigger chunk of ram. Alot of the newer plugs and such require a pretty hefty dose of ram so I would opt for the 512 myself.
Jan 01, 2005 11:04 pm yes i know this....but the Cas latency is the difference that what makes the hyperx more expensive as the normal version......u know.... so this is a case of timing vs. amount......but i think i know what u saying thanks....any more opinions ?.......anyone tried it b4 or something?....thanks

Jan 02, 2005 03:22 pm Well, to be honest I just did some checking with my newer studio box. I just added more ram and was actually upgraded to the CAS 2 type ram from the CAS 3. To be very honest after reading the FAQ Walt just posted, Sonar uses the Burst cache very effectively so the differance from going from CAS 3 to CAS 2 ws not even noticed, at least by Sonar.
But that said, if indeed as the FAQ stated it is the saem price, and maybe you play games as well. I would opt for the CAS 2, but defonately go for 512mb of ram as most recording applications today, with all the DSP pluggins they use will benifit from more ram.
And thanx Walt, that was a very informative FAQ in my case. I learned me something new indeed.

Jan 02, 2005 04:05 pm Yup Noise. Me as well. I don't take time to keep up with it all. I just stumble on these things here mostly. Then I learn.
