cheap monitors

Hey guys. I found these monitors at fnac here in milan:
www.empiremedia.it/prodot...tto=142&p=2
They were in the usual PC speaker area. For some reason the website does not say all the stuff that it says on the box. They have 2 inputs. One that changes the sound and one that claims to have 'flat frequency response'. frequency response is 52hz-20khz

Any thoughts?

They are only 50 euros so I think I will treat myself to them for xmas. I will let you guys know what I think of them. Not that I can really compare them with anything since I have never really used proper monitors. But wouldn't it be cool if they were half decent? Also I think it is worth supporting any company that is trying to make low cost monitoring solutions. They are manufactured in china, but designed in Italy. That might account for the low cost. Dunno. We shall see. I remain skeptical for the moment...

From what little I could find about these that frequency response isn't bad, but not that great, and from the size of the woofer I bet even getting down to 52hz is sketchy. Signal to Noise ratio is pretty poor...

These appear to be just typical two way bookshelf speakers like any other, not really studio monitors by any stretch of the imagination, but hey, good luck with them, I hope they are good.

Good luck Mauz!

I agree they look a little scarry. I am definately not up on my Italiano but from the power specs the look a little like walkman speakers? But then like their more expensive brothers and sisters, they do not really qualify their specifications much. Do let us know, ya never know till you try them!

Do a Froogle Google on "R1000TCN" and it will return results other than "empire" with very similar spec and prices, of what little is available at the empire web site...so I assume they are the same thing...or the same league.
