Yes me again ,
how come the 1642VLZ pro is less expensive than the CFX16 ? (while the CFX16 has all sorts of effects)

Not sure. Friend of mine brought over a catalog (one of the others i.e. not musiciansfriend) and I was doing some light scanning. Looks like Mackie might be responding a little to cost pressures brought on by Behringer etc. Some of Mackies product line pricing looked a little out of alignment to me as well on the surface.

You would want the 1640 Onyx, not the vlz pro. there's a world of difference. The CFX16 is more of a live board. They're probably blowing out the vlz pros as they will be discontinueing them to make way for the Onyx which is a significant step up.

I guess I'll check that one out then .....(I have to admit they do look a little older( the VLZ's))

All I can say about micing drums in a live show is: I wish they wouldn't. I can't stand it. It raises the decibel level of everthing else, because everything else must be raised in relation to it. I don't see the purpose especially in small venues.

The CFX would be a good live board depending on the price difference between it and the ONYX. Personally, I prefer external effects. Sorry, I don't have any recommendations for sig processors for drums.

I saw CFX's have lots of inputs (different from mic inputs) it's kinda like they don't want you to use the internal (???)

Then let me put it this way : I'm looking for a 16-channel mixer for live drum micing ; VLZ , CFX or Onyx (around €1000) ??? And which sig. pro.'s do you need in any live situation ???

Those are just extra inputs for the extra aux's to add more effects. Personally, I wouldn't add alot of effects if any to drums in a live situation. I would choose the ONYX for the mixer, but again that's just me.
