Here's a couple of original songs that I'd love to get some feedback on. While not my first attempt at computer recording/mixing, these are off the first "album" of stuff that sounded at least halfway-professional, at least to my ears.

(Note: I'm not sure if these links are going to directly take you to the songs...if not, I could use some help! :) )

The first one is called "While I'm Waiting":

As I mentioned on the music page, it's an attempt to write and record a song in a classic Brazillian pop style, a la Veloso and Gilberto - hence the rather static melody line - although with some Americanized chord sequences and mixing concepts.

The next one is called "All this rain":

This was done with a sort of psychedelic feel in mind, hence the warbly guitar and cheap keyboards in the background. A product of too many nights listening to the Moody Blues, perhaps? You be the judge.

that first one is jive! I very much got into the 'feel', and you've got a good feel going there. :)

I would say bring out the lead guitar a bit more, give it some boomph.

Glad you liked it! I kinda hemmed and hawed over the lead guitar and what to do with it...I sort of wanted to keep it muted, but up in the mix. Would you suggest "boomphing" it just in terms of volume, or with some EQ tweaking (or other FX)?

I'm not sure, perhaps a bit of reverb to round it a little and then turn it up a bit... I'm no good at mixing so I'll just say "boomph" instead. :)

very nice....first one knocks. dig it.

i think the 2nd one might benefit with less effects...but its a cool tune.

I like the music in the first one. The vocals are sung well, but I feel like they are almost too mellow.

I like the music and crazy instrument psychadelic effects of the second one, though, the tin can telephone vocal effect is a little disconcerting. Good lyrics though.

Thanks for the replies! I had a couple of other people who thought the vocal on the first song was a bit too mellow. I don't disagree, but it was a genre song, so that's my excuse. :)

As for the second song...the "tin can telephone" vocal was me singing through the Wah pedal. Upon repeated listening, it's probably a bit too distinctive.

Good thoughts, thanks for listening.
