Recording levels take a second or so to reach optimum level

Hi Guys,

I'm guessing this is a sound card problem as its only occured since an upgrade.

I start recording and the audio input takes about a second or so to reach optimum levels (as if its being faded in).
I've tried testing with a tone and its the same BUT I also notice with the tone is if you have the tone already "playing" and then hitting record it records and correct levels immediately, which obviously is no good for normal recording purposes....

I've got a C media CMI9739A audio card, and this problem occurs on all of my recording programs.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Paul

P.s Im going through the line in input.

Yeah, CMedia sound chips are not even close to recording-friendly. You may be able to try www.asio4all.com and see how they work for you, but really, the best advice is to get a better sound card.

Not likely, it's really just a very lo-performance sound card. Like I said, you could try the ASIO4All driver project mentioned above, but outside of that, I really don't know, a poor sound card is a poor sound card, very limiting and hard to work around.
