Recording Studio Set-Up

I am about to embark on a project that will have me building a recording studio so............

I am needing information on studio recording gear. I will in the future be building an Aprox 1000sf Studio for the purpose of recording Bands, Jingles, Projects for local songwriters and my own personal use. I would love to say that I need info on the latest Protools set-up (console and all) but the pricetag is out of my reach at this point. I would think that I will need to be able to link music to video (for Jingles and Possible Movie Sound Tracks but not really sure how that works). I would most likely need to keep the pricetag under $15K. Can this be done for this price? Would either the Roland or Tascam units work for this? I am not opposed to going to a DAW or Computer but have not had any experience with them so whatever you suggest needs to be fairly easy to use. I am somewhat computer savy and have folks that can help me in that department if I run into problems. I have heard allot about Cakewalk and Sonar but have not used them yet and to be honest wouldn't know where to start when looking for gear that would control them. I am a hands on person that likes to turn and push buttons and move faders so recording with a mouse wouldn't be real apealing to me. I have only recorded on Tascam Tape machines (Tascam 424 mkIII 4 track cassette recorder). Please keep in mind that while I said that I need to keep the price tag under $15K doesn't mean that I really want to spend that much if there are other options that are available that could greatly reduce these costs. It is also important to me for the Gear that I purchase to look at least somewhat Professional. Can Computers be linked to analog consoles such as the Yamaha MR1642 or other Mackie boards?

Thank You
John Baumgartner

With Cakewalk Sonar version4 you can use audio and video and mix them together, timecode them and so on. And it's a wonderfully easy program to use. I would go the PC route myself...it'd be way less expensive.

Thanks for the Feedback. I kind of went through this a few months ago looking for information and ended up purchasing stuff that didn't seem to interface too well. I took it all back for a refund. I guess what I need to know is if there are interfaces to Sonar that will give me the hands on move the faders and turn the knobs typ control.
