Love the motif 6, beautiful sounds and onboard effects. But, the sampler seems a bit horrific..Ive had and MPC2000xl and when you enter the waveform edit screen(trim) the start markers move smoothly across the wave forms youve sampled meeting every point..you know 1,2,3,4,5,6. On the other hand, the Motif's markers stutter across the waveforms, not allowing you to get the exact spot you want..for instance. 1,4,6,8,9, and so forth. And the spot i want to get is ALWAYS in between the number the marker stops on....Ill want to get the marker set on "1234" but it will only stop on 1235 and 1233.Maybe its not set properly..or im an idiot..if anybody knows what im talkin about or knows how to cure this....let me know

Oct 29, 2004 06:09 pm I don't know about that
I do know that at
www.sninety.com
the forum over there is only about
the yamaha S90 and MOtifs
so I think they could be of a better help
lots of motif experts around there
Oct 29, 2004 08:29 pm I would go there..but im confident that the HRC members are alot more knowledgable than the S90 members...huh..how do you like that plug Mr. Administrators?

Oct 30, 2004 09:13 am Maybe www.motifator.com
there's a forum which is called all about sampling
they should know it
cuz I don't think many around here have the Motif
Oct 30, 2004 09:44 am nice plug, yes, but unfortunately I can't back it up with any actual knowledge of the subject :-(

Oct 30, 2004 08:27 pm JAY, I would love to help ya on this one. The only info I can give ya on the keyboard/sampling workstations like the Motif is the editing on most of them is not as accurate as the PC or the Akai gear. Akai seems to have a very stable editing architecture on board the MPC.
Anytime I have seen a problem like yours arise it is usually related to a snap to setting or is a resolution issue. What might be happening is you have the snap set to mark on Zero Crossing. This is when the application looks for an absolute zero sound of the waveform. They do this to eliminate any popping sounds at the edit point.
If this is enabled it will through your markers off a bit.
I know there are only a couple peeps here who use a Motif. Maybe they will catch this thread and throw down a more drinate answer.

Oct 30, 2004 09:25 pm Plugging is great, when one of us knows what we're talking about. I think noize is the only one of us staff people that even has a clue as to whats going on with the motiff hehe.
Oct 31, 2004 03:14 am I apreciate the links as well...S90 didnt have what i was lookin for maybe motiferator will..Ill try that..I found this problem wit the sampler is very noticable..Anybody who has even tinkered wit the motif and its sampler should know what im talkin about..Zero Crossing...never heard of it.Ill look for that..

Oct 31, 2004 09:14 pm Jay, what zero crossing means is it will look for a spot where the audio wave crosses the 0 amplitude line, meaning the wave is making no sound at that particular moment. so it will eliminate any audible clicks or pops when you make the cut. I use it all the time with audio when making loops and such.
Nov 02, 2004 01:00 am hmmm...thats sounds clever...never seen that on my motif or my MPC...I met an enginner today who said it was the system clock and that i need to add more ram on the motif. Sounds funny, but he was talking as if he was so sure about the situation...bieng he has the motif esx...I know know if i should trust that...bieng that i didnt get the pointer from HRC....(Plugged Again)
