a Few specific questions

Well, the time has come to post the inevitable what-should-i-buy question. but i have done some research, so here goes.

1. if i got an M-audio 1010lt($220) and a Beringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer($90), could i similtaniously record 6 tracks of drums successfully?

2. Since Im only using this for writing purposes, for now, do you recomend a compressor for vocals and drums or just vocals?

4. Also, i dont think i saw a compressor section in the gear bag section, so what compressors should i consider?

I would like to spend under $500 for everything needed between 6 mics and the computer. however, I am willing to break that 500 if needed.

4. heh, Am i at least on the right track? pun intended, but still heh, am i?

No, you couldn't record 6 track unless you get either:

- A mixer with at least 6 sub outs
- 6 preamps for the mics
- any combination of the above to make 6 viable outputs to go into the card.

so if i got this:

service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

and the 1010lt:

service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

could i record 8 at a time?

i would assume so, but i heard that the omni studio has 6 ins but can only do 4 at a time. thus, i dunno how to tell how many can be recorded at a time. not to mention, there are different kinds of ins.

In theory, yes, however, you may be better served finding a mixer with direct outs on the channels and maybe up to 4 or even 8 sub outs. It's would help you more down the road than the preamp unit you listed will.

The ub1202 says it has post fader sends, those would work for getting four mono signal into the computer, then use the 2 built-in preamps on the 1010lt and you should be able to get 6 signal into the PC.

Unless I missed something. . .
