I am using Sound Forge 6.0, and am wanting to master some tracks.
Unsure as to how exactly I am supposed to do this, I decided to use Wavehammer and see what happened.
The problem is, is that when I try to boost the volume, a main section of the audio quietens when another instrument comes in creating a rather irritating result. It seems as though all instruments are filtered and balanced out.
So my question is, is there any way to get rid of this and boost the volume without having more than one instrument quieten out when another comes in? Thanks in advance! Please let me know if there are any good plugins for mastering (and how to install them in the SF directory!). Thanks!

Aug 24, 2004 02:36 am If you normailise the track it will raise all the volume evenly.
I use Forge tae but I like the Wavehammer plug maself. I only ever use the Normalise sparingly (have used it more recently tho to bring up the volume on some samples).
That would do want yi want...

I recently stumbled on a thorough article on the topic at www.recordingeq.com/EQ/req0103/mstrprim.htm
Aug 25, 2004 02:25 am Thanks! Just wondering...are there any freebie mastering programs (most unlikely, I know)?
Aug 25, 2004 06:30 am I know where you can get the tools needed like Compression, etc but these are all in with Sound Forge anyway which you already have.
I dont think there are any programs that will do an automatic mastering job and its just a case of plugging away with Forge.
Compression, EQ, Normalising etc can all be done within the Forge - its great when yi get it to a tee but I am also still striving to get there....though I am getting fairly decent "masters" to a degree.
There's also some good articles here on HRC on this type of thing.
Good luck
Coco.
